Ancestor work is the act of engaging in the ceremonial/ritualistic acknowledgement and honoring of your ancestors, in order to enjoy their guidance and protection. In African ancestor work, ancestors can be appealed to in their graves and induced to take action, a fetish/charm serves as a portable grave a locus for a spirit from the land of the dead (1).
