A houngan is a male voodoo/voudou priest. Sometimes called a hungan or oungan. They have the gift of second sight which grants them supernatural insights and wisdom through vision and dreams they also serve voodoo devotees by leading ceremonies which consist of singing accompanied by sacred drumming during which they communicate with the spirit world(1).
