A voodoo doll is an effigy or fetish adorned with the hair, nail clippings, blood or pieces of clothing belonging to the individual it represents in order to form a supernatural connection. Any harm done symbolically to the doll results in actual harm to the person represented by the doll. A voodoo doll serves the same purpose as a hoodoo doll baby.
