What is the Kabbalah?
The Kabbalah is a Jewish mystical devotion based upon the belief that it was possible to communicate directly with God and hidden meanings could be extracted from the Torah (Jewish scriptures and other sacred literature) via numerology; assigning numerical value to each letter of the Hebrew alphabet (1). According to legend, God taught Kabbalah to angels, who taught it to Adam in order to provide mankind with a way back to God (2).
